DAY 1: EXPLORE THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF BUDVA

Budva is known for its sandy beaches and nightlife. Stone walls built by the Venetians surround the narrow streets of the medieval old town (Stari Grad). This historic district is home to a seaside citadel and religious sites such as the Church of Santa Maria in Punta, established in the 9th century. Spend the morning browsing the beautiful, narrow streets of the old town, before settling down for a delicious lunch at Dukley Beach Lounge or Restoran Lim. If you are adventurous, soar over Budva like a bird with Budva Paragliding.

Park your car in the gorgeous fishing village Przno (photo above) and take the stunning 2 km coastal walk to Sveti Stefan (photo below). Rent a sun-lounger & umbrella and spend a morning on the beach with a view of this picture-perfect islet. Stroll back to Przno and enjoy the freshest fish right next to the water at Konoba More.

DAY 3: BRUSH UP ON YOUR HISTORY AT STARI BAR & ULCINJ (43 km & 65 km from Budva)

The Old Bar – Antibaris Fortress is the outstanding historic site of Montenegro and the town of Bar, situated on a 4-hectare hilltop just four kilometers from the sea, at the foot of Rumija Mountain. Known also as Stari Bar or simply Old Bar, the fortress is now an open-air museum and the largest and the most important Medieval archaeological site in the Balkans which is not yet archaeologically researched. Over an area of 4,5 hectares, remains of some 600 public and sacral buildings bear witness to the cultural and architectural significance of all periods of the Mediterranean history of the present day Bar.

The old town of Ulcinj with its hinterland makes an area with distinctive and extremely rich cultural heritage. The old town of Ulcinj itself, the fortress – Citadel, once was the Hellenic acropolis, while the present appearance is connected to the Middle Ages. Within the old town of Ulcinj there is the Church of Saint Mary dating from 1510.

 

EAT AT DULCINEA

Most of Restaurant Dulcinea's herbs are organically grown and locally sourced from nearby farms. Fish and shellfish are sourced from local fishermen. Fish specialities, as well as popular meat dishes and carefully selected ingredients prepared by the best Montenegro chefs are served on the summer terrace as well as in the elegant interior.

 

DAY 4: RELAX AT A STUNNING BEACH

There are numerous gorgeous beaches from Budva in the north to Ulcinj in the south. Turn of the main road and you will discover a gem at the end of most roads!

EAT AT AMBASSADOR RESTAURANT (PETROVAC)

Plazni Bar Medin is on Lucice Beach and is the perfect spot to get out of the sun and grab some lunch and a cold beer. Enjoy a delicious pizza, burger or seafood. 

 

DAY 5: EXPERIENCE BREATHTAKING NATURE AT LAKE SKADAR

Lake Skadar, Montenegro

 

Lake Skadar  lies on the border of Albania and Montenegro, and is the largest lake in Southern Europe. The Montenegrin section has been designated as national park, while the Albanian section as a nature reserve and a ramsar site. Drive to Rijeka Crnojevica (44 kms from Budva) and the horseshoe bend. Follow the lake to Virpazar for a boat trip and lunch at Konoba Badanj.

EAT AT KONOBA BADANJ

The name Badanj is the traditional name for a wooden barrel in which they tread grapes for preparing the production of wine.Every weekend there is live music at Konoba Badanj, come and relax with a homemade red wine and old songs!
