The Republic of Singapore is an island city-state in Southeast Asia. It lies at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, with Indonesia's Riau Islands to the south and Peninsular Malaysia to the north. Singapore's territory consists of one main island along with 62 other islets. Since independence, extensive land reclamation has increased its total size by 23% (130 square kilometres or 50 square miles). CHINATOWN
Explore Chinatown's maze of narrow roads and experience Chinatown Food Street with its restaurants serving traditional fare like Hainanese chicken rice, noodles and satay. Souvenir shops and indie boutiques dot the area, offering clothes, crafts and antiques, while Club Street is full of trendy wine bars. Cultural institutions to visit include the 1827 Sri Mariamman Temple and the ornate Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum.
GARDENS BY THE BAY
Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) of reclaimed land in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden (in Marina South), Bay East Garden (in Marina East) and Bay Central Garden (in Downtown Core and Kallang). The largest of the gardens is Bay South Garden at 54 hectares (130 acres). Its Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world
HAWKER CENTRES
At Hawker Centres (also knowns as food courts) you can have sublime local food at reasonable prices in Singapore. These down-to-earth culinary destinations are where you can find a wide variety of local dishes, from Chicken Rice, Fried Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, Bak Kut Teh, Satay, Laksa, and Chilli Crab to the healthy Yong Tau Fu. Sentosa Island is an island located at the Central Region of Singapore. It was once used as a British military base and a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp. In 1972, the island was renamed Sentosa and was planned to be a popular tourist destination. It is now home to a popular resort that receives more than twenty million visitors per year. Attractions include a 2 km (1.2 mi) long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, the Merlion, 14 hotels, and the Resorts World Sentosa, which features the Universal Studios Singapore theme park and one of Singapore's two casinos.
