Experience the Diversity of South Africa

A world in one country - put South Africa on your bucket list!

Experience the Diversity of South Africa

From the desert to the beach, from the bushveld to the forest. Fine dining to market culture. Bungee jumping to hiking. There are few other countries that offer such a diverse assortment of attractions, within a relatively small area, as in South Africa.

“South Africa is the most beautiful place on earth. Admittedly, I am biased but when you combine the natural beauty…and the fact that the region is a haven for Africa’s most splendid wildlife….then I think that we have been blessed with a truly wonderful land.” Nelson Mandela.

The desert scapes of the Namaqualand and Karoo provide a backdrop of peace and serenity. The sheer expanse of the terrain, will astound you. Take photographs of the stars at night and meditate in the coolness under a Karee boom. Study the 6 000 species of plants and if you have an interest in Geology and Palaeontology then this is your spot. It is one of the most famed areas in the world dating back some 253 million years.

The rugged coastline has some of the most pristine beaches in the world and water activities abound. There is something for everyone. Simple lazing in the sun, to surfing, sandboarding and shark cage diving. The marine big five are; shark, whale, dolphin, seal and penguin. You may well get to see a few of them on a sunset cruise.

Travelling in South Africa would not be complete without a visit to the bushveld. Viewing wildlife in their natural habitat is a huge source of inspiration and nurtures a sense of wonder. Ecologically, economically and culturally, wildlife plays an integral part in maintaining balance. Be one with nature as you watch the sun rise to the call of a Martial Eagle.

Restaurants, markets, farm stalls, music festivals and night life. If socialising is your mission, you will be spoilt for choice.

Are you an adrenalin hunter? Will the world’s highest bungee jump of 216 metres work for you? Best you visit Bloukrans Bridge. White water raft down the Doring River in the Cederberg. Sky dive, para-glide, microlight or balloon which one is for you? Bouldering, caving, scuba diving and the list goes on.

Add to this the myriad of sporting events that you can enjoy, as a spectator or participant.

South Africa is also home to the Arts, Opera, Ballet and stage productions.

The diversity of the cultures of the gallimaufry of people that make up South Africa is truly a colourful one. This gave name to the Rainbow Nation. From the top to the bottom and from the left to the right, everyone is different. Take the time to chat, mingle and learn.

Well, I don’t know about you but I am so very excited to start exploring. I'm busy packing my bags as we speak. Tonight, I will be sitting on Cathedral Peak, watching the sun go down. My pot of coffee brewing on the fire and my half jack in hand. I will be putting together my Travel Wish List of unique things to experience in South Africa. What will you be doing?
