• Fiverr.com will pay you $5 for doing just about anything. From the ridiculous like breaking up with your girlfriend. How about writing someone’s name on a postcard and taking a picture of it at the Statue of Liberty. Check the site for more bizarre options.

• TakeLessons.com. Can you teach? Anything? Then this one is for you.

• Clarity.fm. Do you have an area of expertise? It could be on how to make a dog sit. Set a ‘call rate’ and share your knowledge over the phone.

• Skype. No commission or fee is charged as on all of the above platforms. You need to find your own clients and away you go. Teach, coach or consult.

There are of course other ways –

• Photography

• Au pair

• Carer

If none of the above are for you, then how about taking your guitar along and doing some busking. Seasonal farm work could also be an option.
