Dedicated to preserving the traditions and heritage
Harry & Ida's opened in 2015 with Meat and Supply Co., a sandwich counter and general store located in NYC's East Village carrying locally sourced and in-house prepared goods. They are dedicated to preserving the traditions and heritage ingredients of our past, while always looking forward to the future of food sustainability.
The shop takes its name from their great grandparents, Harry (aka. "Pops") & Ida, who opened a kosher delicatessen in Harlem nearly a century ago, as Hungarian immigrants. Many of the recipes are based off of the originals from the deli. They are best known for their Pastrami Sandwich, with thick slabs of brined and smoked brisket deckles, served with buttermilk-fermented cucumber kraut, cracked rye berry, anchovy mustard and fresh dill on a pillowy white long bun.
