Untouched nature experience

Kagga Kamma, a Nature Reserve nestled in the scenic Cederberg Mountains. Far away from the city lights, in a vast open space where rock formations frame the horizon, there is a place where lovers of nature can experience a truly unique environment. Kagga Kamma is located in an untouched wilderness area in the Swartruggens region of the Cederberg Mountains.

The Nature Reserve has a variety of unique accommodation to choose from and offers nature lovers a chance to experience spectacular scenery, dramatic rock formations, rich and fascinating cultural heritage, ancient rock art sites, amazing indigenous fauna and flora and phenomenal night skies. Kagga Kamma is the perfect destination for a most memorable nature holiday.

Kagga Kamma offers a natural Open Air Room at a private platform set about three kilometers from the Main Lodge, between the most astonishing rock formations overlooking the fynbos plains. At the open air room, guests can fully immerse themselves in the wonders and sounds of the wilderness; the call of the jackal, the chatter of the birds and the sound of wind through the rock formations.

Kagga Kamma also offers ten unique man-made 'Cave' Suites that were skilfully constructed to integrate with the natural Sandstone formations. The facade of the 'Cave' Suites are man-made, while the back interior wall is natural sandstone. Each 'Cave' Suite has a small terrace with a view and is simply furnished with comfort in mind. There are also five spacious thatched-huts at Kagga Kamma resemble the traditional dwellings of the San clans that inhabited the Reserve many years ago.

The restaurant at Kagga Kamma offers an a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy South African cuisine and a great wine selection from the nearby Cape Winelands. For a unique experience, enjoy dinner under the stars between extraordinary rock formations that entice your imagination (weather permitting). Kagga Kamma also has a cosy bar for guests to enjoy. The bar is a Wi-Fi area and has satellite TV for watching sports events.

In-between spectacular rock formations, guests will find one of Kagga Kamma's two swimming pools. During those hot Karoo-like summers this is the place to be to cool down or put your feet up in the shade. In winter-time guests often curl up with a book on the sun loungers around the pool.

There is an open air massage area where guests can enjoy a full body de-stress couple's massage in the heart of nature. The scenic beauty and dramatic rock formations of this carefully selected area will leave you in awe, while luxuriating in a side by side massage.

Guests can explore Kagga Kamma in their own off-road 4x4 vehicle. The trail offers 4x4 enthusiasts' spectacular views, unfolding mountain ranges and interesting wildlife. Birds and reptiles can be seen along this trail as well as some antelope species.

Take a journey back in time with their Rock Art Tour of paintings dating back 6000 years. Ancient rock art sites can be found all over Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve. To see the Cederberg's interesting ecological features in all their glory, guests are welcome to use the self-guided hiking trails and walks on the Reserve.
