Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort is tucked away from the island’s bustling large beaches, lies the breathtaking, picture-perfect, white and turquoise Chwaka Bay on the south-east side of Zanzibar. Due to the intimate size of only 20 luxurious rooms, Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort has a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel has 10 first floor and 10 ground floor rooms. Downstairs rooms have their own little garden and upstairs rooms have a private balcony. Rooms are laid out with total relaxation in mind. The king size beds are huge and dressed with breathable cotton sheets and blankets to give you the ultimate night’s sleep and mosquito netting, that is set away from the bed (preventing that claustrophobic feeling). Rooms are airy, as a result of the effortless decor and plenty of natural light.
Michamvi Sunset Bay has two restaurants. The Sea Breeze restaurant, where breakfast and lunch are served, is located directly on the beach overlooking Chwaka Bay and the Garden restaurant, where dinner is sometimes served. Dinner is served in various locations each evening. There is evening entertainment occasionally and the tables are set up around the pool or on the beach or in one of the restaurants. They offer Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board options.
The Sea Breeze Spa is fully equipped to offer various massages and body scrubs, pedicures and manicures. Located directly on the beach and airconditioned, guests can enjoy a treatment of choice, while listening to the gentle sound of the ocean, just metres away.
For many guests, lounging about, lazily sipping cocktails from the bar, a mere 10 metres from the sea, is their idea of the perfect holiday. However, a selection of organised tours, free and paid-for options is also available for the more adventurous.
Zanzibar is located on the East coast of Tanzania, in the warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a malaria-free area and has pleasant weather throughout the year. In the winter months of May and June, the island can experience seasonal rains. However, the south-east coast is generally drier than other parts of the island.
