Tranquil with stunning views of the valley

Just 18km East of the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay along the renowned holiday destination of the Garden Route is Hog Hollow Country Lodge, set in a private nature reserve, on the edge of indigenous forest with breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Tsitsikamma Mountains.

Overlooking the Matjies River Gorge & the Tsitsikamma Mountains, this congenial hub is where it all happens. The boma deck is the place to check-in, sip some bubbly, or a good cup of tea, relax after a day’s outing, chat to newly found friends and catch up with family news – comfy chairs, a crackling fire and a sundowner in hand – what better way to end the day!

The Boma area leads down to the cool blue waters of the swimming pool where you may find others lazing about on sun loungers. Kick off your shoes, order an icy drink from the bar and relax.

The sixteen suites are situated in the gardens surrounding the main house. Decorated in earthy colours, with hand crafted artefacts scattered throughout. All feature king size beds (or twin if you prefer), hairdryer, wi-fi, air conditioning, hi-fi, a stocked mini bar, and a tea/coffee station with our delicious homemade biscuits. Sit out on your private wooden deck listening to the sounds of a garden humming with life, enveloped in the warmth of the African sun.

No TV, but there is good wi-fi. A South African bedtime story on your pillow each evening (don’t worry we won’t test you!). Our home baked cookies & popcorn come in tightly sealed jars as the monkeys do LOVE to eat them too.

Hog Hollow is well known for its delectable food. A splendid breakfast mini-buffet on your table awaits with all the little special treats and, of course, a bit of bubbly to begin the day. Of course, there’s a seriously scrumptious variety in the hot breakfast section too. On crisp clear mornings, farmhouse breakfasts are served on the boma deck overlooking the forest and mountains, or near the fireplace when it’s cooler.

As the day ends and the full splendour of the African stars shine down on the deck, our hosts invite you inside to wine and dine in the main house. At the centre of the Main House is our famously large dining room table, where guests from various locales interact in a convivial setting. Needless to say, the conversation is never boring! If communal dining is not your thing, there are many lovely areas where you can dine separately. Just ask your host.
