Tranquil lodge in the rain forest
The Leatherback Lodge, opened its doors in November 2015. Once an old estate house with a 5 acre coconut plantation, the structure was transformed into a cozy private residence and B&B.
The lodge offers three rooms - the Rain-forest room, the Earth room and the Ocean room. All rooms come equipped with a queen sized bed, private balcony, private washroom (toilet & bath) and ceiling fans (No Air-conditioning). Being in the countryside and surrounded by rain forest the rooms are amazingly cool, very quiet and comfortable.
Being surrounded by rain forest, there are over 60 species of birds to be seen in their natural habitat much to the delight of many of their birding guests. Beautiful rivers, beaches, hiking and forest trails are within very short driving distance from the lodge. The Leatherback Turtle nesting season takes place annually from March to August on Matura Beach which is just a 15 minute drive from the lodge.
