ARUSHA
Start your African Adventure in Arusha, a city in north eastern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region. Located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, Arusha has a temperate climate. MOUNT KILAMANJARO (100KM FROM ARUSHA)
Mount Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, "Kibo", "Mawenzi", and "Shira", is a dormant volcano and iconic sight. It is the highest mountain in Africa, with its summit about 4,900 metres from its base, and 5,895 metres above sea level. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination.
NGORONGORO CRATER (190 KM FROM ARUSHA)
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a protected area and a World Heritage Site in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area. The conservation area is administered by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, an arm of the Tanzanian government. The crater was named by the Maasai pastoralists after the sound produced by the cowbell (ngoro ngoro). Approximately 25 000 large animals, mostly ungulates, live in the crater.
SERENGETI (350 KM FROM ARUSHA)
The Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region in Africa. It is located in northern Tanzania. It spans approximately 30,000 km2.The Serengeti hosts the second largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, which helps secure it as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, and as one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world. The Serengeti is also renowned for its large lion population and is one of the best places to observe prides in their natural environment.The region contains the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and several game reserves. Approximately 70 large mammal and 500 bird species are found there.
