1. Tomorrowland

 

Tomorrowland is considered the best EDM music festival in the world.

With its fairy-tale-like decoration, seemingly endless list of world-class acts and 180,000 attend from over 100 countries, Tomorrowland is unlike any other festival.

Tickets sell out fast, and they aren't cheap. A one day pass starts at EUR 98 and a full weekend ticket will set you back EUR 272. If you're looking for the ultimate VIP experience, you'll need to drop a cool EUR 6,000.

2. Wacken Open Air

If electro beats aren't your thing, head to Germany for Wacken Open Air. It's the largest heavy metal festival in the world and draws crowds of over 70,000 each year.

Just remember your raincoats and rubber boots. Wacken is not a mud-free festival.

3. Sonar

If you're a fan of electronic music, you've probably heard of Sonar. It's the largest festival of its kind in Europe with over 100,000 attendees in 2017.

Unlike other summer music festivals in Europe, Sonar doesn't take place in a field.

Instead, it has a venue in the city centre of Barcelona during the day and a night venue further out of town. This unique set up adds to the experience of the festival with a hop on hop off sightseeing tourist bus helping you get around.

4. Glastonbury Festival

Each year, Glastonbury Festival transform a quiet rural area in the United Kingdom into a jam-packed 3-day event.

It's the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival worldwide which attracts 130,000 music lovers.

Just make sure you are prepared for the walk. You won't be able to park your car at your campsite, and you'll spend a good deal of your time walking between stages. But that's all part of the Glastonbury charm.

5. INmusic Festival

 

INmusic Festival is the largest open-air international music festival in Croatia. It takes place on Youth Island, in the middle of Lake Jarun, just outside of Zagreb.

It's been going for over ten years and it held over two or three days. Music lovers will find everything from indie rock to EDM with each stage paying homage to its own genre.
